The University of Sheffield

Aerospace Engineering

The invention of the aeroplane at the beginning of the last century has effectively shrunk the planet and has vastly expanded human mobility, bringing immense social and economic benefits to mankind.

From these early beginnings, a vast global aerospace industry has developed, which is a key asset for the future. Our engineering talent will contribute to its success.

Research excellence

Student researcher
In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) we were placed 2nd in the country for Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering. This means that a University of Sheffield degree in Aerospace Engineering is a prestigious qualification, highly valued by both employers and society.
