Aerospace: Bringing Humanity CloserThe invention of the aeroplane at the beginning of the last century has effectively shrunk the planet and has vastly expanded human mobility, bringing immense social and economic benefits to mankind. From these early beginnings, a vast global aerospace industry has developed, which is a key asset for the future. Our engineering talent will contribute to its success.Innovation at the Forefront of Learning AerospaceEngineering at the University of Sheffield is an innovative and technology driven subject, backed up by our long tradition of engineering excellence. Our courses produce multi-skilled graduates with technical command and management potential, essential for today´s engineer and tomorrow´s business leader.Find out about our undergraduate coursesDownload Aerospace Engineering Brochure, pdf, 740 KbRead about postgraduate opportunitiesExcellent for Teaching and ResearchOur engineering courses enjoy an international reputation. They are accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Institution of Mechanical Engineering, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (formerly the Institution of Electrical Engineering) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. The accreditation by these institutions allows our graduates to proceed to a Chartered Engineer qualification after suitable experience. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) we were placed 2nd in the country for Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering (Times Higher Education, 18 December 2008). This means that a University of Sheffield degree in Aerospace Engineering is a prestigious qualification, highly valued by employers and society.
